10 Things I Love About You Card

Today I am sharing my second card to thank The Robin's Nest for having me on their design team.  I wanted to do something extra special for this card and used the Moxie Fab World's Stamp It:  Love Card Challenge as my inspiration.  Every once in awhile I love to make a card with lists of things I love about people, or admire in them.  It is a wonderful card to receive.
So, I made a list of some of the things I loved about The Robin's Nest products:  sparkly, manly, tailored, glamorous, beautiful and somethings I love about the staff I worked with:  talented, helpful and generous.  I used Microsoft word to print them out and make little banners.  The doily is Cricut Sophie Cartridge and the 10 things I love about you is from Cricut Best Friends Imagine. I sewed it onto the glittered cardstock with some heavy duty thread and loved the skipped stitches enough to include them.  TRN is made with stickers from The Robin's Nest and the @ from Microsoft word again.  And what would a TRN card be without dew drops?!

Thank You So Much The Robin's Nest

Just sharing a thank you note I made today for my design team coordinator over at The Robin's Nest.  I am so thankful for my two terms on the design team and wanted to make sure I made a card for both the company and my DT coordinator. I am going to be entering this into the Moxie Fab World Stamp It: Thank you challenge.  My inspiration was a photo from my Sunday, June 24, 2012 A & E section of the Chicago Tribune.  I loved the colors and the fabric ticking look.
I started with The Robin's Nest Glitter Cream Animal Print. and ran it through my Cricut Imagine.  Using the Cricut Craft Room software, I tried to create a stripe that looked like mattress ticking.  I then stamped on top with Viva Las Vegas Elvis stamp.  I got this for free by adding their blinkie to my blog! I used pigment ink and embossing powder so that the stamped image would not smear on top of the embossed paper.  The watch is Oxford Impressions and the tape measure is Tim Holtz.

All Good Things Tips

As I post my last project for the design team at The Robin's Nest, I thought it might be fun to share a few of my a favorite tips for getting the best results while paper crafting.
First, use beautiful products and paper.  I love the beautiful paper at The Robin's Nest!  Their elegant papers are perfect for Wedding season!
Second, don't forget the details.  Try fussy cutting pretty paper, making your own embellishments, inking the edges with distress inks, sewing on your projects, and doodling with glitter gel pens.  Here I fussy cut the Silver Paisley on Black Glitter paper to make the leaves and stems.  I also used a gel pen on my label to highlight the printed sentiment and the label border.  This was made with my Cricut Imagine, Martha Stewart Elegant Cakes and Elegant Edges and the Cricut Craft Room software.
Tie it together with repetition.  Most design theory recommends odd numbers, hence three flowers.  For this project, I used the circular swirl motif from the Cricut Paper Lace Cartridge to repeat the shapes and forms I found in The Robin's Nest Silver Paisley on Black paper.  I added the Bold Damask Decor stamp to my label to add that same shape and used the dew drops on my sentiment, my circular motif and the floral spray.  Silver was repeated in two papers and the dew drops.

And finally, add dimension:  To get dimension on this wedding card, I used the Black Glitter Rose paper to create a rolled rose.  If you use this technique you will find that the largest petals are in the center of the flower, so begin rolling your flower from the outside, and roll towards the inside.  Before gluing, gently roll the edges of the petals with the silver tipping back to highlight this detail.   I also added some of The Robin's Nest Dew Drops from the Black/White/Metallic Mix.  Dimension can be flatter than these rolled roses to fit in a scrap book, just achieve dimension on pages, with layered flat paper, inking your edges, and some pop dots, or low profile embellishments if you wish.

I would like to thank The Robin's Nest for having me on their design team for two terms!  I have really enjoyed working with all of the talented designers and look forward to seeing your new products and designers!

Add caption

Welcome to the Cricut Blog Hop day two,  hosted by Erica's Craft Room!  If you are just stopping by my blog and want to start at the beginning of the hop, you can start at Erica's HERE.
Today I am working on my 2012 planner pages for August.  I bought a kit from Archivers and have used my Cricut to finish up the pre-made pages with the finishing details to match.  For the August page, all of the images cut in orange are cut with Accent Essentials:  the arrow, fleur de lis, and cog.  I love how quickly my pages get done with my Cricut, how professional they look and how timeless the images are!
And to help celebrate this hop I am offering a prize too:  a $10.00 gift certificate for either of my Etsy stores where you can get a dust cover for any of your Cricuts!   To enter the prize drawing for my blog, please leave a comment below with a method to reach you, in a safe manner.  For example, ssmith at hotmail dot com will help prevent spam.  I will draw a winner on June 18, 2012.

Welcome to the Cricut Blog Hop hosted by Erica's Craft Room!  If you are just stopping by my blog and want to start at the beginning of the hop, you can start at Erica's HERE.
I'm sharing a thank you card made with Pretty Pennants, Martha Stewart Elegant Cake, and Art Philosophy (Close to My Heart Cricut) Cartridges.  The butterfly is from Martha's cart and the yellow and pink rose is from Art Philosophy.
For the head and body of my butterfly, I added some Dew Drops from The Robin's Nest.  The floral sprig is recycled from some pretty gift wrap (but I think it came from Michaels), and leaves are a Creative Memories Punch, the ribbon is Making Memories and the Thanks is Close to My Heart "For Every Occasion."

Third Time's a Charm

Today I am trying out for my third term on the design team for The Robin's Nest.  I love their paper and embellishments!  So beautiful, elegant, timeless and pretty!

One of my all time favorite papers at The Robin's Nest is the Fleur and they have it in six colors!  So, I wanted to use one of my favorite color combos:  cobalt blue, yellow and white and my favorite paper from The Robin's Nest to make up my 2013 planner!  Now, you might be asking, 2013!  Already?  But if you have kids just ending the school year, you have been sent a copy of next years school calendar and you want to start planning.  And I love planners, ok I am addicted to planners, but often am frustrated that they do not have the right size or information that I want.  So I am making my own.
I started by creating the calendar pages in Microsoft Word and printing them out on heavy card stock.  I then made my cover with The Robin's Nest Blue Fleur, Tropicana Fleur and Yellow Sunshine Glitter Chipboard.  The 2012 is cut with Cricut Elegant Cakes and the resin flower is Anna Griffin. The border is Martha Stewart.  For the inside of the front cover, I used the striped side the the Blue Fleur and a bit of the Robin's Nest Blue Glitter Journaling to get the look of lace.  I liked this look so much I cut up more and used it on the back inside cover too!
I made a pocket page using October Afternoon.  If you make a pocket page for an album, try a double sided paper for this and just score your page.  Instant coordinating paper!
For the inside back cover, I used another of The Robin's Nest Blue Glitter Journaling blocks to label my planner, in case it gets lost.  I added the photo mat in the Blue Fleur and the Blue Glitter Journaling.  The back outside cover is more Blue Fleur matted on Distressed Honeycomb.
