Supplementing Anna Griffin's Card Kit with Cricut

I am making Mother's Day Cards from HSN with Anna Griffin's Card kit today and ran out of Happy Mother's Day sentiments.  I love her card kits and they are so generous with plenty of left overs, but Anna needs to add more Mother's Day sentiments because some of us have step parents on both sides of the family!  I needed sets for Mothers, Grandmothers, Step Mothers and Step Grandmothers.  So, I got on my Design Space and made my own!
I used Cricut Elegant Edges for the oval frames, added the cream ovals in the center and the sentiment is from Cricut Mother's Day 2010 Cartridge.  I sent the cream oval to the back and then flattened the images.  After I printed and cut them, I embellished with a gold pen by hand.  Now I can make all my cards with professional looking sentiments.  Thanks Anna Griffin and Cricut!

And here is a photo of the outside of the cards by Anna.

Finish Your UFO Challenge 16: Go Green

This week I am continuing with my Finish Your Unfinished Objects Challenge.  And working with the Anniversary theme, the 16th anniversary, this week's extra entry theme was hard to find.  Turns out there is NO traditional 16th anniversary gift, only modern traditions for this anniversary.  The modern tradition is the gemstone Peridot.  So work on a UFO that involves the color Peridot green or an actual Peridot for an extra entry this week.  Above you'll see a paper purse I made with cereal boxes covered with some Basic Grey paper.  You can find more information about the purse project here.  What a great idea for Mother's Day!
And since this was such a struggle and the color is green, I'm also accepting any UFO that is environmentally green.  So, finish a UFO with a recycled or up cycled supply and get an extra entry too!

Finish Your UFObjects Challenge 15

This week I am continuing with my Finish Your Unfinished Objects Challenge.  And working with the Anniversary theme, the 15th anniversary, this week's extra entry theme is for any use of the crystal gems, or glass.  Can you see the bling in these flowers?  What a great way to embellish your stamped or paper flowers! I made the teal flower with coffee filters. See more on this project here.
If you're not a stain glass artist, you can still craft with glass!  Check out a necklace made with glass at Courtney Lane Designs here.  Or etch a casserole dish with this tutorial from Make it and Love it.

Scrapping a Challenge

Every year I scrapbook my families Christmas photo cards.  This year, I struggled with how to scrap by sister's card because of the white metallic portion and the colors of the photo.  So, I took a look at a designer I love and what she did with metallic.  I visited Anna Griffin's paper crafting ideas on Pinterest and found she uses more metallics and paired them with neutrals.  Then I pulled out my Anna Griffin dies and some scrap metallic paper and made some die cuts to fit behind the photo card.  This is another tip from Anna, you don't have to show the whole die cut, so I didn't need a whole piece of silver card stock.  I used scraps and placed the portion of the die that was missing behind the photo.
Supplies
Anna Griffin die (Silver lace behind card)
Cricut Close To My Heart Artistry & Sophie cartridges (red metallic snowflake and 2015)
Currents (gold & cream butter fly paper)
Piccolo Enamel Powder Adhesive (roll on)
Stampin' Stuff Pirate Gold Embossing Powder
Want 2 Scrap silver pearl embellishments
Karen Foster Sparkle Burst Brads
CTMH brad (lacy brad)
Papertrey Ink Sequin Die
Gold Card stock
Silver Card Stock
Heidi Swapp Metallic Red Paper (Snowflakes & 2015)
Not sure who made the Black card stock with silver dots

Cricut Explore Has Me Scrap Booking Again

Now that I have a Cricut Explore, I am enjoying scrap booking again.  I love using the print and cut feature to make my own titles, like this Jingle Bell title made with my Imagine cartridges and Holly and Ivy cartridge.  The photo is not out of focus, I have blurred the face on purpose as it is not my child to share.  The circular font is made with the Cameo, as I don't know how to do this with the Explore.  Paper is by My Minds Eye (red polka dot back ground), American Crafts (candy cane stripe), K & Company (green papers).
I always use my families photo Christmas cards to make pages for our Christmas album.  It's a wonderful way to see how each child grows and it's another way to decorate for the holiday's that tells my family how important they are when they visit.  We can look through the scrapbooks and ooh and aah over how they've grown.  I have also been known to display these pages in my Creative Memories framed box.

Teen Boy Birthday Card

I often struggle to make a birthday card for the teen boys in my life.  But, I have the perfect idea if you need one.  I used a fabulous cut from the Father's Day Cricut cartridge for a video game controller.  The two phrases are also from Cricut, the birthday boy is from Cricut CTMH Artiste and the happy is from Cricut CTMH Artbooking.
