1) Get a good fit for the foot and the calf
a) Use a boot measurement guide provided by your retailer or here by Nordstrom. I have shared their photo above.
b) Measure yourself using the guide and check your measurements against the retailers boot measurements. See Nordstroms video on how to measure both the calf and the shaft height here. Keep in mind that you may want to wear tights, socks or boot cuffs under your boot opening. You can add a boot cuff to a boot with a larger calf measurement than you need and add a finished look at the same time. I love to get boot cuffs at Etsy or if you are crafty you can make your own!
